Barge Operator
Our client is looking for a Barge Operator
To mobilise ASAP to the GP3 on a 2/3 rotation for approximately 2 trips with a view to extend.

Responsible for daily marine operations as directed by the Barge
Supervisor
This position reports directly to the Barge Supervisor.
KEY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. To have sufficient understanding of process safety and major accident hazard
management to be able to effectively contribute and influence business decisions
impacting process safety.
2. Commitment to incident free operations.
3. Actively support a working environment based on respect for health, safety and
environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
4. Participate as a member of the Barge Master’s team in delivering performance against
targets.
5. Build effective working relationships with other departments and shifts.
6. Loading, storage and discharging of oil cargo.
7. Ballasting, trim, and stability of the vessel.
8. COW, tank cleaning, gas freeing for entry.
9. Mooring and unmooring of shuttle tankers as designated by the Barge Master.
10. Vessel systems power management.
11. Ensure vessel position and heading is maintained and implements changes to vessel
heading as required.
12. Maintain an effective marine and aviation radio watch.
13. Co-ordinate in-field operations involving shuttle tankers, support vessels and
helicopters.
14. Assist with the inspection and maintenance of life saving appliances and firefighting
equipment.
15. Execute duties as specified in the station/bill/emergency response procedures or as
directed by the OIM.
16. Conduct first-line maintenance on marine systems where competent or assist as
appropriate.
17. Ensure that the CCR is constantly manned.
18. Monitor vessel status and reacts to changes in vessel systems, and requests assistance
from other departments as required.
19. Isolation and preparation of equipment for maintenance.
20. Complete verification assurance and routine activities and maintain accurate records.
21. Liaise with all departments to minimize disruption to operational activities.
22. Maintain accurate records of on-board marine operations, vessel, and aircraft
movements.
23. Comply with Company procedures and ensure a full and comprehensive handover
detailing all relevant information in accordance with these procedures

24. Commit to Competence Assurance System and undertake any training and assessment
required for the role.
25. Decision making ability is in accordance with delegation of authority
26. Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of crew, and areas of environment
pertaining to their position.
27. Has the primary role of watch keeping in the CCR, ensuring that the station keeping,
and marine systems are operated in a safe and efficient manner.
28. Perform the role of Area Operator within the permit to work system.

1. STCW II/1 OOW Qualification
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience
3. Tanker Endorsement (Oil)
4. Oil tanker experience
5. Dynamic positioning experience preferred
6. Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present
technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
7. Ability to create positive relations to peers and stakeholders
internally and externally
