We are recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer to be based in our  London office for an assignment of approximately 12 months.   The chosen candidate will be responsible for delivery of structural design needed for a FEED project with primarily onshore steel and concrete design but also carry out design of offshore jacket and topsides to FEED level. Potential candidates will be able to plan and work independently, reporting progress and schedule to team leaders and communicate effectively to other team members and client.
The primary tasks will be structural design, production of calculations, specifications, basis of design and supervision of drawing production related to concrete/steel buildings, foundations, structural steel and shallow water offshore jackets.
Potential candidates should meet the requirements as stated below and have a substantial experience in steel and concrete structural design for primarily onshore oil, gas and chemical projects but also have experience in offshore design of shallow water jacket structures.
Job Description & Requirements
The successful candidate shall:
  • Have experience with STAAD and SACS for analysis design of steelwork.
  • Be experienced with concrete design to ACI 318, steel design to AISC and offshore design to API RP 2A.
  • Be experienced with review/update of structural specifications and Basis of Design
  • Have experienced in design of concrete structures and foundations.
  • Plan and conduct independent work within a design team, evaluating options, discussing with client/team evaluation approach and then selection, application of engineering techniques to produce required dleiverables.
  • Have a broad working knowledge of the principles and practices of structural design and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.
  • Coordinate technical issues with other departments on the project including constructability requirements and reviews.
  • Provide technical direction for specific tasks and assign work to other engineers, designers, drafters in the project structural team as needed.
  • Have a broad knowledge of standards and procedures governing structural design in the industry.
The successful candidate shall have the following skills:
  • A broad technical knowledge of structural design.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry and international codes and standards governing Structural design.
  • A Civil Engineering degree (BEng or MEng).
  • A thorough knowledge of constructability, operability, and maintainability requirements.
  • Have ability to organize, plan and communicate effectively.
  • Preferably be chartered with the ICE or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in the utilisation of 3-D analysis software including StaadPro and SACS.
  • Proficiency in the utilization of 3-D reviewing software such as smartplant review.
